Ages 8-14

Students will learn the basics of throwing on the potter’s wheel: centering the clay, pulling up the walls, and shaping the clay. They will gain a basic foundation of form and function while learning to throw simple cylinder and bowl forms on the potter’s wheel to create various cups, mugs and bowls. Basic techniques of decoration and glaze application will be explored. Attention to detail and craftsmanship will be emphasized and creativity encouraged.
