Saratoga Clay Arts Center’s Schacht Gallery presents Terra/Flora, a duo exhibition featuring utilitarian ceramic works by Maryland potter Matt Hyleck and New York potter Brenda Quinn. The exhibition opens on Saturday, August 28, with an opening reception from 5-7pm and runs through October 2, 2021. The Center will also be hosting two 1-day hands on workshops with the artists.

As the title Terra/Flora suggests, both artists look to nature for inspiration for their functional pottery. Matt Hyleck’s high fire reduction stoneware pieces reflect his love for landscape, and the abstract and geometric patters found in natural and manicured environments. Brenda Quinn’s cone six porcelain and brown stoneware works are laden with the flowers and leaves one might find in her garden. Both artists bring together form, function and surface with the beauty of our natural surroundings and the promise of a good meal or cup of coffee.
