Presenting our 6th annual national juried exhibition, Morningware: Breakfast & Brunch, to be juried by Colorado potter Lorna Meaden. Morning meals are a cornerstone of our daily routines marking the transition from rest to activity, and the pottery we use during these moments plays a crucial role in setting the tone for the day. Our juror Lorna Meaden will be seeking entries of functional pots designed to enhance the rituals surrounding morning meals. Whether it's a quick daybreak breakfast or a leisurely late morning brunch, the pottery that supports these moments helps us ease into whatever comes next. These are the objects that we reach for to start our day, providing comfort, utility, and beauty. The category of breakfast and brunch ware is surprisingly vast, encompassing a wide array of pieces such as pitchers, teapots, coffee pour-overs, teacups with saucers, berry bowls, coffee mugs, travel mugs, juicers, butter dishes, plates, bowls, fruit bowls, cream & sugar sets, and coffee canisters, to name just a few.
Lorna states, “As a potter that embraces specific functionality in my own work, I am fascinated by the endless possibilities that zeroing in on the breakfast meal can generate. Functional pottery not only serves a purpose but also enriches our daily experiences through thoughtful design and craftsmanship.”
