9th Annual Members Juried Exhibition


Saratoga Clay Arts Center’s Schacht Gallery presents its 9th Annual Members Juried Exhibition, running December 14, 2019 - January 18, 2020 with an opening reception on Saturday, December 14, 5-7pm. The exhibition will feature ceramic sculpture, utilitarian and decorative works by 18 artists and SCAC Members, selected from a national call for entry by guest juror Leigh Taylor Mickelson. Light refreshments will be served. Admission is free.

The opening reception is always a wonderful community event, as many exhibiting artists are from the region. We will be awarding prizes, which will be selected and announced at the opening reception. First Place $150, Second Place $100, Third Place $50, People's Choice $50. The exhibition features a wide range of one-of-a-kind works for sale, from large scale sculpture to wall work and functional pottery.

Participating artists include Lesley Black-Vogel, Patricia Collins, Emily Crawford, Karen  Elem, Ann Ferguson, Neil Fryzer, Rachel Garrison, Dan Greenfeld, Carol Gundersen, Randi Kish, Nancy Niefield, Susan Nowogrodzki, Michelle O'Hare, Marilyn Richeda, Corinne Rosen, Rebecca Sparks, Audrie Sturman, Regina Wickham.

About our Juror:
Leigh Taylor Mickelson, a resident of Ossining, NY, is an artist and independent consultant with 22 years of experience in nonprofit arts management and program development.  From 2012-19 she served as Executive Director at Clay Art Center, in Port Chester, NY and was formerly on staff as the Program Director.  In 2006, she moved to NY from Baltimore, MD where she was the Exhibitions Director for Baltimore Clayworks for 9 years. In her 22-year career as an arts administrator and curator, she has curated and organized dozens of ceramic exhibitions for galleries and organizations across the United States, and from 2013-18 served on the board of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) board as their Exhibitions Director.   She has a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and English Literature from Hamilton College, and received her MFA in Ceramic Sculpture from Rochester Institute of Technology’s School for American Crafts.  Mickelson has had several articles published in various publications and catalogs, has taught ceramics and workshops across the east coast and exhibits her own work widely across the nation.
