Inaugural Workshop - July 22, 2011

Inaugural "Workshop" Celebration

We are pleased to annouce Tim Jones has been selected to host Saratoga Clay Arts Center's Inaugural Workshop to be held on July 22-24, 2011 in conjunction with the center's Grand Opening Celebration. Tim is a long-time friend of our Director, Jill Kovachick and will travel from his home in Germany for the event.

Tim began his professional journey in the field of clay as a first-year student at Skidmore College in 1984. In the “eleventh hour” of his studies at Skidmore, after just completing an apprenticeship with world renowned clay artist Toshiko Takaezu in Princeton, NJ, Tim transferred to the San Francisco Art Institute’s New Genres Programme where he received his BFA in 1996. Tim moved to Germany and completed his MFA at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam, Netherlands, and is now a full Professor at the Universitat des Saarlandes in Saarbrucken, Germany. Tim also owns and operates a personal studio, Keramik Atelier Jones, in Saarbrucken, on the German and French boarder. Tim continues to exhibit his work throughout Sweden, Norway and Germany.

We are thrilled to welcome Tim as the first Visiting Artist at Saratoga Clay Arts Center and have planned a number of activities in celebration of his visit
